19980 Barrysimon (1989 WF2) is a Main-belt asteroid discovered on November 22, 1989 by David H. Levy and Carolyn S. Shoemaker at Palomar
It is named for amateur astronomer Barry Simon.〔
*( JPL Small-Body Database Browser ) Retrieved 10/8/2006.〕 Simon is the founder of the Deep South Regional StarGaze, an amateur event held in the south annually since 1983. He is also a multi-term past president of the Pontchartrain Astronomy Society of New Orleans, LA.
